Safaris · The North

The North.

One base, eight days. Pemuteran's BioRock reefs and Menjangan walls, and a crossing to Java for Kawah Ijen's blue flames.

Eight days · one base

Stay put in Pemuteran.

A different kind of Bali safari. Skip the east-coast circuit and base in Pemuteran — Bali's quiet north-west: BioRock restoration reefs, Menjangan Island walls, Secret Bay muck. Sleep in a beach villa, BBQ on the sand at night. Halfway through, cross the strait to Java for Kawah Ijen — the volcano with blue sulfur flames at dawn and a turquoise crater lake. Local wine tasting, jungle thermal baths, Pulaki temple monkeys, waterfall on the way home. The "slow + unusual" pick.

  3. Day 3
    Menjangan Island day-trip · 3 dives
Boat into West Bali National Park. 3 dives — Anchor Wreck (1800s Dutch ship) + Pos II gorgonian wall + Eel Garden (classic shallow site with the resident garden-eel colony swaying in the current). Picnic lunch on the park beach between dives.
  4. Day 4
Culture day · Pulaki temple · thermal baths · wine tasting
Culture + thermal day, no diving. Morning: Pulaki Temple with its colony of sacred monkeys, then Brahma Vihara monastery (Bali's only Buddhist monastery, mountain meditation hall). Afternoon: Banyu Wedang jungle thermal baths — hot spring pools in the rainforest. Late-afternoon local wine tasting at the north-coast vineyard, then back to the beach for the BBQ dinner on the sand — fresh-caught fish, satay, rice, cold Bintangs, bonfire. If you chose Option B for tomorrow (Java volcano), the team has your dry kit packed and sulfur masks ready — you head out from the BBQ at 22:00.

Descend 09:00. Ferry back. Arrive Pemuteran ~16:00. No diving — altitude + exhaustion.

    Surcharge · +$50 / aquanaut
  6. Day 6
Pemuteran · 2 dives · optional night dive (weather permitting)
Morning: BioRock + Napoleon Reef — the artificial restoration reef and the wreck-like coral mound that draws the big schools. Afternoon: Pulaki Wall second pass — same wall as Day 2 but different current direction = different fish life. Optional bonus dive after sunset — if the seas are flat and visibility holds, the lead guide adds a night dive on the Pemuteran house reef. Bioluminescent plankton, hunting octopus, sleeping parrotfish wrapped in mucus cocoons. Weather-dependent, no surcharge if it happens.
  7. Day 7
Final dive day · 2 dives + souvenir runs + Pemuteran temple
Morning 2 dives — Menjangan revisit (Pos I + the Cathedral) OR BioRock + Napoleon Reef. Last dive ends by 16:00 — start of your pre-flight surface interval. Afternoon: souvenir runs through the Pemuteran village wood-carving + silver workshops (the north coast is famous for masks + temple carvings). Quick stop at Pemuteran temple for sunset. Last evening in town.

Surface-interval day by design — 18 h between last dive and flight is non-negotiable (DCS risk). Slow breakfast. 4.5 h scenic mountain transfer via Munduk waterfalls + Bedugul lake temple (Pura Ulun Danu Beratan) + strawberry-farm lunch with volcano view. Free hours in Canggu, evening flight from DPS. ~30 h since the last dive — safe to fly.
